Associated Advisors/Consultants

OxyPharma works actively with the following external advisors and consultants:

Jan Bergman (b. 1941), Ph.D.
Professor and Group leader at the Center for Nutrition and Toxicology, Karolinska Institute. Associate Professor in Organic Chemistry with the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. Previous employments include: Chemistry/patent consultant for AstraZeneca, Medivir and Karo Bio and acting as technical judge in patent trials. Former President and Board member of the International Society of Heterocyclic Chemistry.
Involvement with OxyPharma: Dr. Bergman initiated the anti-viral research with B-220 in the 1970's and is the chemist behind B-220 and its related analogues. He is currently actively involved and has e.g. synthesized the analogues of B-220 and contributed to the protection of OxyPharma's intellectual property rights.

Lars Ekman (b. 1930), DVM. Ph.D.
Toxicology consultant with private firm. Professor in Clinical Chemistry, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Uppsala University. Earlier employments include Head of Safety Assessment at Astra. Involvement with OxyPharma: Professor Ekman is OxyPharma's main consultant regarding all toxicology work and as such very much involved in the Company's activities.

Carl Engholm (b. 1941), M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering
European Patent Attorney with private firm. Earlier employments include 25 years at Pharmacia in leading positions working with intellectual property rights.
Involvement with OxyPharma: IP consultant.

Klas Gustavii (b. 1937), Ph.D.
Quality Assurance (QA) Manager with private firm. Associate Professor in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Uppsala University. Earlier employments include: Laboratory Manager, Hässle, Division Manager, Astra, QC Manager, Astra and Manager, Apoteksbolaget.
Involvement with OxyPharma: QA consultant.

Harriet Allee (b. 1960), M.Sc. in Chemistry
European and Swedish Patent Attorney with BRANN AB. Mrs. Allee has more than 15 years experience as a Patent Attorney and is active mainly within the field of pharmaceutical patents. Involvement with OxyPharma: Patent Attorney.

Johan Harmenberg (b.1954), M.D., Ph.D.
Chief Excecutive Officer, Axelar AB, Associate Professor in Virology at the Karolinska Institute. Previous employments include: Clinical Research Director, Medical Advisor and Medical Director at Roche, Astra and Pharmacia & Upjohn and Vice President, Development, Medivir AB.
Involvement with OxyPharma: Dr. Harmenberg was the first person to work with B-220 from an anti-viral perspective and has been involved in the activities around B-220 since the late 1980's. Currently, Dr. Harmenberg is involved in issues concerning clinical trials and regulatory work.

Erik Helgstrand (b.1938), Ph.D.
R&D Consultant, Projipharma. Associate Professor with the Faculty of Pharmacy, BMC Uppsala. Earlier employments include: Research Director, Astra, Research Director, Pharmacia and Research Director with SBL Vaccine.
Involvement with OxyPharma: Dr. Helgstrand was a project leader for the B-220 project in the mid 1990's. Today, he is involved in issues concerning toxicology studies and regulatory work.

Rikard Holmdahl (b. 1953), MD, Ph.D.
Professor and Head of Medical Inflammation Research, Lund University. Co-founder of Arexis AB and scientific advisory board member of several biotech companies.
Involvement with OxyPharma: Conducts research into the mechanism of action of OxyPharma's RA and MS compounds.

Lars Klareskog (b. 1945), MD, Ph.D.
Professor in Rheumatology, Rheumatology Unit, Department of Medicine, Karolinska Institutet at Karolinska University Hospital.
Involvement with OxyPharma: Conducts research into the mechanism of action of OxyPharma's RA compounds and Principal Investigator for the ongoing phase II study of Rabeximod. .

Lennart Möller (b. 1954), MD, Ph.D.
Professor in Nutrition and Toxicology with the Karolinska Institute. Deputy Executive Director, Center for Nutrition and Toxicology, Karolinska Institute. Earlier employments include Research Toxicologist, Swedish Environmental Institute, Coordinator of the Swedish urban air project (industrial, academic, governmental agencies).
Involvement with OxyPharma: Professor Möller has been involved in the activities surrounding OxyPharma since 1987. He has contributed extensively in the pre-clinical work involving B-220 as well as the company's activities with regard to the MS-project. Lately, Professor Möller has been active in the preparation of documentation supporting OxyPharma's intellectual property rights.
